Will CIAA 2017 be the same?

Currently, Charlotte has a “black cloud” hanging over it given the recent political controversy. However, the CIAA organization has agreed to keep the 2017 CIAA men’s and women’s basketball tournament in Charlotte, for the time being.

Given the recent issues, there are those who wonder whether the attendance will be the same in Charlotte in 2017. Additionally, some wonder if the CIAA tournament will remain in Charlotte throughout the remainder of it’s contract (4 years).

Over 100,000 people attend this event yearly, and promoters host parties and events that include multiple celebrities. If this tournament fails to draw the crowd, and ultimately the CIAA organization decides to remove the event from Charlotte, the city will have yet another financial impact due to the recent HB2 law passing.
