Will the 2017 All Star Weekend Remain in Charlotte?
Will the 2017 NBA All Star Weekend Remain in Charlotte? No one is certain whether the 2017 NBA All Star game will remain in Charlotte. One thing for sure is that if it doesn’t, there will be large financial impacts. The city already is home to multiple major financial institutions, so not having a one-time NBA All Star Weekend may not mean much, but companies seem to be jumping on the bandwagon as well.
PayPal has already pulled out of Charlotte, due to this law, which cost the city a lot of money in tax dollars. Additionally, multiple music celebrities have cancelled shows in the city to show their non-support of the new law. Is this becoming a trend? Will there continue to be impacts?
Overall, the city seems to be split between support and non-support of the new law. Some say they don’t want a man in a woman’s restroom, and vice versa, while some say they want equality for all not matter that fact. This is yet another divide in society that will inevitably result in passionate discussions and disagreements.
What are your thoughts on this law and the NBA potentially pulling the all star game from Charlotte? Do you think the law will be changed to minimize the down stream impacts? Do think lawmakers would even consider changing the law if it didn’t result in impacts with large corporation dollars?
Well one thing is for sure, if the city doesn’t keep 2017 NBA All Star Weekend, it’s going to be an epic celebration full of people, drinks, parties and event. Especially, since the 2017 CIAA Tournament Week is being held the week after. This is one month where Charlotte is going to be place to be.
